The new Artega GT

Artega is new brand that has unveiled itself recently. Behind the brand is the German electronics company paragon, the globally successful electronics supplier based in Delbreck, in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia. This new concept car was unveiled at the Geneva motor show recently and is a breath of fresh air. It is great to see new brands that we have never heard of bringing out brilliant sports cars. This car caught my attention strait away with it's compact yet flowing lines and an aggressive nature and stance. I really love the way the back end of the car matches the front, so many cars these days are mismatched. It is amazing how a new team with new ideas think.

The Artega gt really does hit the nail on the head when it comes to styling. obviously we can see the Aston martin front spoiler and lights yet Henrik Fischer has smoothed out the angles. I see a Porche influence in the dimensions and size. Simple styling has brought much attention to this car, although that masks the amount of technology that is built into this car.
The Artega uses a aluminium space frame similar to the Elise/Exige however unlike the lotus the chassis is welded together. The super car uses carbon fibre panels throughout, which means this car is light it only weighs 1100 kg which is close to perfect. The artega has a V6 engine which is mounted in the rear. The engine is a Volkswagen 3.6 litre which is currently used in the cayenne. This engine produces 223 kw of power and 350 nm of torque. This is enough power to push the car past 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. The engine is mounted slightly behind the rear axle ,so it would drive more like a porsche 911. driving around the bends in this car would be a dream with endless amounts of power. the Artega uses a six speed direct shift gearbox also from a Volkswagen. In fact most of the drive line is sourced from Volkswagen.
The Artega gt uses some brilliant technology. The car has the newest ABS generation, the ASP stability program with four drive settings, and traction control these are features normally found only at the supe car level. As well as a tricky new sensor switch panels and the unique dual-indicator speedometer/rev counter instrument. the car also has multi link front and rear suspension together with electronic steering. this gives the driver a good feel for the road and comfort. The car has a 20Gb hard disk on board to store all your digital media and a ambient interior. I think we will find even more interesting electronics on this car when it is released.
When it comes to style and performance this car is hard to beat. the Artega rear wheel drive super car will sell for around $120,000 if it is sold in Australia. I hope it does make it to our shores and i hope a lot of car manufacturers realise that it is possible to build super cars for under $150,000. I hope that Artega strives to develop a racing version to attract buyers. We'll wait to see what happens with this car and look forward to reporting on it again.
