The new lotus Europa is a two seater touring car with more of the luxuries that you wouldn’t find in the elise. It still has the great handling and speed. However also has a more refined feel to it. The simple car uses lotus engineering skills to produce the perfect club car.

The Lotus Europa S follows the core Lotus performance philososphy. Light weight enables this refined, high performing GT car to weigh just 995 kg. Advanced and high tech materials including an extruded and bonded aluminium chassis. Composite body panels and a very advanced composite energy absorbing front crash structure have resulted in low weight and amazing performance.

What lotus have essentially done with this car is build a luxury elise/exige. The car actually gets a sound system, rarely seen on any elise. They roof line is also higher and made the boot larger. It's generally finished better inside Than the elise. The elise doesn't even get carpet while this one does. Air conditioning is also standard. The europa is more like a rear engined Elan from the early nineties.

The mid engined two seat coupe sports a 2.0 L turbo charged ecotec engine producing 147 kW (197 hp/203 PS) at 5400 rpm. The torquey 272 Nm engine allows the car to reach 97 km/h in around 5.6 seconds, and 160 km/h in around 13.8 seconds. Maximum speed is 230 km/h.
