A friend of mine recently was involved in an accident in which no other cars where involved. The damage sustained in the accident however evident. At first anyone would assume they would need to take their car to a panel beater. Maybe we should think first before we take this expensive step

Now before a go on I will express the fact that this particular car had minor frontal dama. The person involved did not want to drive around in a car that had had any damage. The car had two smashed headlights, smashed bumper, broken grill and both radiator bars where buckled. It looked very ugly.

After taking it two several panel beaters he got quotes from $1600 to $2100. for the whole job including paint. The owner of the vehicle thought this was a bit much. He decided to do the gob himself After taking of all the broken parts he proceeded to straighten out the damaged engine bay and realign the quarters. After the radiator bar was changed and various bars where straightened the lights where put back in. The bumper was reattached as well as the grill. The new bonnet bolted on and then a few minor parts. The job took about 3 -4 hours. Was not particularly difficult and most importantly cost about $600 dollars for parts. Although the paint has not yet been applied he will attempt to do it himself. They might be the difficult part but we will see. Now if you have a brand new expensive car I guess you would have it fully insured and you wouldn’t attempt to fix it your self. However for people on a budget with slightly older cars I think it is worth it. I personally would even consider doing it if I ever crashed my car even though it’s probably a bit newer and expensive.

So my point is maybe think twice before you spend thousands to panel beaters who probably do the same thing you could for more than half the price. You decide Check out the pics and look for more when it is fully finished.
